Packing tips for Women

As women we tend to always over pack. For a simple two day trip we feel the need to pack five different outfits. Hey! That’s just what we do. Because for us its all about options. Right ladies? And while I am all for having options, I am also all for keeping my carry on luggage as light as possible. So below I am going to share with you a few simple packing tips for all my ladies out there.

Tip #1 – Sort Everything Out
I am sure by now you are trying to figure out how in the world you will be able to fit that big pile of clothes on your bed into your suitcase. Well…. You can’t. You are going to have to sort everything out and get organized. I mean come on, do you really need three different outfits for each day you are traveling? I would say not.

So here is what you need to do. Look through all the clothes you want to take and put them into three categories. The must have’s, the maybes and the probably not pile. Make sure your must have pile includes items that you can wear with two or three different things. If this is a short weekend trip you don’t need more than two pairs of pants, three shirts and nice dress you can wear either in the day or night.

Tip #2 – Pack It
Once you have sorted everything out its time to pack. Packing is all about layering. You want your bulky, hard items to be on the bottom layer. This would include things such as your shoes and a hair dryer. Any spaces between these items should be filled with smaller items such as t-shirts. Now you move on to the second layer which is where you will have all of your large clothing items.

Fold them just like you would any other time and place them on top. The last layer is for those items you may need quick and easy access to while traveling. It is also for your makeup and any liquids you may be taking with you such as contact solution. Make sure they are in a zip lock back so they won’t get on your clothes.

Tip #3 – Wear The Heavy Stuff
Your carry on luggage is only so big. One thing you can do to help save space is wear the heavy stuff. For example, if you are taking a jacket wear on the plane. This will save you a ton of space in your luggage. You can always take the jacket off if need be. To save time check in online. This way you can head straight to security and avoid the long lines at the check in desk.

I would also suggest putting a book, your phone or anything else you may want to use while on the flight in your handbag. This way you don’t have to go to the overhead compartment once in flight.
